PAGODA

Stone towers (derived from the Indian stupas) were originally used to add a spiritual influence to the garden

Today they serve a purely decorative purpose

Here the Pagoda is placed near the water's edge where its reflection adds to its charm

It also enhances the visitor's view across the lower pond

The towers are usually an odd number of stories, and usually square in shape
